The City of Flin Flon's snow clearing crews typically hit the streets whenever there is a snowfall of ten centimeters or more, depending on road conditions or the weather forecast.

Snow-clearing crews prioritize downtown roads and main neighbourhood arteries that all residents use, and that are critical for ensuring emergency responders can move around the city efficiently.

The priority of roads is determined by the traffic volume they experience, whether a road is a bus or school route, how essential they are to emergency vehicle access, and special conditions due to weather and infrastructure restraints.

Priority 1 roads are shown in red on the map. They are high traffic, essential for emergency vehicles and city transit, and are also located near schools.

Priority 2 streets are shown in blue on the map. They are roads that otherwise experience an elevated amount of traffic and are important for accessing residential areas.

Priority 3 areas are the remainder of the roads in Flin Flon. They include residential streets and back alleys.

When snowstorms are continuous or closely follow one another, snow-clearing crews repeat Priority 1 and 2 areas before moving to Priority 3 roads. Sometimes, the priority system is adapted to ensure all roadways receive some degree of snow-clearing.
